This captivating silk scarf is full of texture and historical artistic beauty.  Its rich natural dyes and handwoven patterning are done in the traditional Betsileo style of the Madagascar silk weavers who create it.  With its charming detail, this special piece will be an instant favorite.

This scarf is 100% Madagascar silk and completely hand-crafted (hand spun yarn, naturally dyed, and hand woven on a floor loom). The women of the Lovasoa Cooperative craft each piece in their small village in the central highlands of Madagascar.

This scarf is made from wild Borocera silk, a wild species of silkworm which is only found in Madagascar, and cultivated mulberry silk. Only natural dyes are used, such as leaves, bark, and clay.

  • Made from Borocera wild silk and cultivated mulberry silk.
  • Completely hand-crafted.
  • Naturally dyed.
  • Measures 12.5” x 70”.

Your purchase directly helps a weaver in this cooperative support her family. It also preserves the cultural tradition of silk weaving in Madagascar.

Each piece comes with a lovely tag that tells the story of the silk and has washing instructions.

Washing instructions: Dry cleaning recommended. Steam iron as desired.

There may be slight variations in size and color due to the handcrafted process.
