These intricate raffia placemats are carefully crafted using detailed handwoven patterning techniques, giving them a rich texture, and curated feel.  This distinctive black and natural striped pattern is a traditional Betsimisaraka motif historically used in the region of northeast Madagascar where our artisan and farmer partners live.  The linen-colored fibers are the natural undyed color of the raffia.

Their sheen and natural beauty are sure to give a rustic elegance to your home.

Unique, eye catching and gorgeous!

This piece is so gorgeous! Friends constantly remark on it and when I tell the story behind how it is made from endemic species and that is supports local artisans and forest conservation in Madagascar, they are doubly impressed!

Great house gift

We assembled a set (runner plus 4 placemats) as a house gift for friends who hosted us in their home for a few days. The pieces were beautifully made, nicely packaged, and warmly received. We have an older style in our own home and they are easy to clean and make a striking table setting.
