Starry Night Silk Scarf

Get dreamy in this inspiring wild silk scarf.  The gold, rose, and blue stripes twinkle against the black background, like a starry night.  Natural dyes create most of the colors in this piece, including turmeric root which gives the lustrous golden color.  Handwoven zigzag patterning adds a dimension of texture and interest.  

This scarf is made from 100% Borocera wild silk which is only found in Madagascar.  It is completely hand-crafted (hand spun yarn, naturally dyed, and hand woven on a floor loom).  The women of the Lovasoa Cooperative create each piece in their small village in the central highlands of Madagascar. 

Your purchase directly helps a weaver in this cooperative support her family.  It also preserves the cultural tradition of silk weaving in Madagascar.

Each piece comes with a lovely tag that tells the story of the silk and has washing instructions.

Washing instructions:  Dry cleaning is recommended.  Steam iron to refresh without washing, on a low temperature setting.
