The handmade Panel is artfully created using 3 different species of silk cocoons: Ceranchia, Borocera and Bombyx. All of the cocoons are sustainably harvested. Some of the cocoons are left natural in color and some are dyed in eye-pleasing colors, making the collages a feast for the eyes. Each Panel features a traditionally dyed indigo Shibori inset and both dense inner-layers of the Ceranchia cocoon, which are opaque, and outer, more translucent, layers. This variety of texture and technique makes the pieces interesting to look at. Find out more about each variety of Cocoon Silk. The cocoons are stitched together with a clear filament that disappears in the texture of the Panel.
These panels make great placemats. Stitch them together to make a custom sized runner or hang them as art on your wall. Use them as mats anywhere you wish to add a textured, organic pop of color.
Each Non-Woven Cocoon Silk Panel is unique and a one of a kind. If you would like to purchase multiple panels that coordinate or work with your specific décor send an email with your request to tananasilk.com. Every effort to accommodate will be made.
This Panel was sustainably sourced and made in Madagascar by CPALI, a poverty alleviation NGO in north eastern Madagascar that invests in local leadership, community ownership and links these partners to global markets. 100% of the profits from Ta’na’na Silk are returned to Madagascar.
Care: Hand-wash only, warm or cold water. Iron with steam iron on low-heat setting and place a pressing guard sheet over the silk to protect it while you iron.
