This fascinating holiday ornament is an actual Ceranchia wild silk cocoon. Ceranchia is a species of wild silk which is only found in Madagascar. It has a unique inner and outer cocoon, which make this natural wonder a beautiful conversation piece. The inner cocoon is dyed olive green, and the outer cocoon is its natural undyed golden color.
Our farmers use a sustainable harvesting technique when collecting wild silk cocoons so as not to diminish the local silkworm population. In fact, every purchase promotes conservation efforts for this endemic species.
This silk ornament makes a perfect holiday decoration. It comes in a lovely kraft box for easy gifting, and includes a tag telling the story of the silk.
